Embracer Group Sells Saber Interactive for $247 Million to Beacon Interactive

Embracer Group has confirmed the sale of Saber Interactive to Beacon Interactive for $247 million. The deal includes the transfer of several studios under Saber's parent company to Beacon, which is controlled by Saber's co-founder, Matthew Karch.
Embracer also revealed the cessation of its operations in Russia. Following the sale, Saber will retain multiple studios, such as 3D Realms, Nimble Giant, New World Interactive, and others, while Embracer plans to keep Aspyr, Beamdog, Tripwire, and more. Notably, Beacon has the option to purchase 4A Games and Zen Studios for an undisclosed sum.
The sale price, previously estimated to be as high as $500 million, marks a notable shift from Embracer's 2020 acquisition of Saber for $525 million. Embracer Group has undergone significant restructuring, leading to workforce reductions and the cancellation of numerous game projects. Despite the divestment, Karch emphasized continued collaboration and partnership between the companies, ensuring the stability of hundreds of jobs and positioning both parties for future growth.
