Adam, a standout in Y Combinator’s Winter 2025 batch, has secured a $4.1 million seed funding round to drive its future initiatives. Following the successful launch of its text-to-3D model app, which garnered over 10 million social media impressions, the AI startup attracted significant investor interest. CEO Zach Dive revealed that they received multiple term sheets via email without any in-person meetings. Ultimately, Adam selected TQ Ventures as its primary investor due to shared beliefs in the future of computer-aided design (CAD) and alignment with Adam’s consumer-focused roadmap.

Although initially targeting makers rather than engineers, Adam has adapted its plans, and with improved AI models, it intends to introduce a copilot for professional-grade CAD workflows by the year's end. This decision was influenced by early feedback on its initial tool, prompting the startup to blend different interaction paradigms for its upcoming copilot. This approach aims to differentiate Adam from other text-to-CAD products and capitalize on its viral launch, despite existing competition in the AI copilot for CAD segment.

The startup's early success has facilitated ongoing hiring efforts, with a focus on acquiring AI and engineering talent. In addition to TQ Ventures, Adam has received backing from funds such as 468 Capital, Pioneer, Script Capital, and Transpose Platform, as well as prominent angel investors, including Tim Glaser, Trevor Blackwell, and Theo Browne. The startup is already attracting a substantial user base and paying customers for its standard and pro plans, priced at $5.99 and $17.99 per month, respectively.

While gearing up to monetize its enterprise offering, Adam is currently in the testing phase, ensuring its ability to support professional engineers in their daily work without aiming to replace them. The startup's initial focus on mechanical engineering involves enabling pro users to generate feature-rich parametric designs in popular CAD programs, starting with Onshape. Dive is optimistic about the potential for AI to reshape CAD workflows in a similar manner to how Onshape revolutionized CAD in the cloud.
