AI-Powered Security Startup Depthfirst Raises $40M in Series A Round

Depthfirst, a security startup, has secured $40 million in a Series A funding round, led by Accel Partners with participation from SV Angel, Mantis VC, and Alt Capital. The company offers General Security Intelligence, an AI-native suite that assists organizations in scanning and analyzing their codebases and workflows for potential threats. Additionally, it enables companies to safeguard themselves from credential exposures and monitor threats to their open source and third-party components.
The raised capital will be utilized to expand the team for applied research and engineering, as well as product and sales. Depthfirst's co-founder and CEO, Qasim Mithani, emphasized the need for evolution in defense, stating that the rapid pace of software development has outstripped security measures.
The company's leadership team comprises individuals with extensive experience in both AI and security, including a former director of security and risk engineering at Square and an ex-engineer at Google DeepMind. Depthfirst aims to combat AI-driven cyber exploits and has already established partnerships with major companies such as AngelList, Lovable, and Moveworks.
