Anysphere Raises $900 Million at $9.9 Billion Valuation, Attracts Major Investors

Anysphere, the company behind the popular AI coding assistant Cursor, has successfully raised $900 million in a funding round, valuing the startup at an impressive $9.9 billion. The round, originally reported by Bloomberg, was led by Thrive Capital and saw participation from prominent investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, and DST Global.
Anysphere has quickly gained attention as one of the fastest-growing startups, with sources indicating that its annual recurring revenue has surpassed $500 million, a significant increase from the $300 million reported earlier. Notably, this marks the third funding round in less than a year for Anysphere, which previously raised $105 million in a Series B round led by Thrive Capital and $60 million in a Series A round. Since its inception, the company has raised a total of $2 billion.
The surge in AI-powered coding tools has attracted substantial investor interest, with the sector also witnessing notable M&A activity. OpenAI's recent acquisition of AI-assisted coding tool Windsurf for approximately $3 billion indicates the growing significance of AI in the market. Additionally, Crunchbase's global funding report highlights AI as the leading sector for venture funding, with a remarkable 53% of global funding in the first quarter directed towards the AI sector, marking it as the strongest quarter for AI funding ever.
