Capital One Ventures Leads $150 Million Round to Scale Sentra’s Agentic Data Security Platform

Sentra, the agentic data security company, announced a strategic investment of $150 million led by Capital One Ventures, with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Zeev Ventures, Standard Investments, Munich Re Ventures, and Key1 Capital. A Capital One representative will join Sentra’s board as part of the deal, which follows more than a year of rapid growth, with enterprise demand for governance and protection of data accessed by human and AI agents fueling the expansion. “We’re seeing AI agents become the most prolific consumers of enterprise data, often gaining access to data that hasn’t been fully classified or governed,” said Yoav Regev, Sentra’s co-founder and CEO. “Traditional perimeter defenses aren’t designed for agents operating at machine speed. Our approach secures data where it resides and strictly controls which identities—human and AI—can reach it, enabling faster AI deployment while preserving governance.” This round accelerates Sentra’s mission to deliver agentic data security across all enterprise environments, empowering organizations to put AI to work without sacrificing control.
Sentra’s strategy centers on protecting data at rest—across clouds, SaaS platforms, data warehouses, on-premise file shares, and the knowledge sources AI relies on—rather than attempting to monitor every agent’s every request in real time. By pre-authorizing data access and governance ahead of time, Sentra maintains continuous protection beyond traditional perimeter-based approaches. With the new funding, Sentra plans to broaden its capabilities in agent, copilot, and model visibility, enforce continuous least privilege for both human and non-human identities, reinforce data-at-rest protections before agents reach it, and enable rapid containment when agent behavior is unexpected. The company will also scale its go-to-market efforts by expanding field and channel programs, increasing brand and marketing activities, and entering new geographic markets.
Enterprises choose Sentra because AI agents operate at machine speed, necessitating security that understands both data and access rights. Sentra uniquely unifies data discovery and classification with identity mapping for humans and AI agents, helping organizations govern access and remediate risky permissions before misuse occurs. Importantly, Sentra analyzes data within a customer’s own environment and does not move data to external estates, avoiding data residency and retention risks and enabling efficient multi-cloud and hybrid deployments. Customers frequently rate Sentra highly for data security posture management on independent reviews. Lyft’s Chief Information Security Officer, Chaim Sanders, has adopted Sentra to support rapid growth while maintaining visibility into data access. Sanders noted, “Our teams want to move fast with AI, but we must know what data our agents can reach before we enable them.
Sentra provides that insight across our entire environment, helping security support speed-to-value rather than slow it down.” About Sentra: Sentra positions itself as the agentic data security company, integrating data security posture management (DSPM), data detection and response (DDR), data access governance (DAG), and data loss prevention (DLP) to protect data at rest wherever it resides. The company, founded in 2021 by Yoav Regev, Asaf Kochan, Ron Reiter, and Yair Cohen, operates from New York and Tel Aviv. Learn more at sentra.io. Advisors H-F & Co. served as legal counsel to Sentra, while Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz advised Capital One Ventures. This investment underscores a continued shift toward enterprise security models that align with the realities of AI-enabled data usage, providing governance and protection without hindering innovation. Sentra’s growth and evolving product capabilities position it to accelerate adoption across industries that require stringent data control in AI-driven workflows.
