Clark, the AI-driven platform serving professionals who verify the economy, announced the launch of Clerks, autonomous AI employees designed to perform audit work for CPA firms. The company also disclosed an $11 million seed round led by Touring Capital, with participation from returning investors Marathon Management Partners, Rerail, and Sofeon Ventures. This round, combined with a $5 million funding Marathon Management Partners led in September 2025, brings Clark’s total funding to $16 million. Clark’s mission is to close the gap between real-time economic activity and the traditional, end-of-year audit snapshot. In an era where AI can imitate invoices, records, and even voices, Clark aims to provide continuous verification of claims—begun and maintained in real time rather than waiting for a once-a-year audit opinion. The U.S. Government Accountability Office has estimated substantial annual losses due to fraud in federal programs, underscoring the need for ongoing verification of government and corporate spending. By enabling continuous verification at an affordable scale, CPAs can offer new services that detect fraud and waste before money is spent or while it can still be recovered.

Clerks are designed to work within engagements the way staff auditors do, moving through audit areas from start to finish: document review, testing, and workpaper preparation. When information is missing, Clerks request it from clients, monitor responses, and seamlessly resume work as new data arrives—without requiring manual prompts. Clerks operate on Material Intelligence, Clark’s AI operating system that blends an agent framework, document processing, and a layered memory model that preserves context much like a seasoned auditor. Routine updates happen quietly, while items needing human judgment are flagged with supporting evidence for licensed CPAs to evaluate, review, and sign off. More than 35 CPA firms—among them CliftonLarsonAllen, Aprio, Kreischer Miler, and Sensiba—already use Clark for audits.

Clark measures success not by alert quantity but by time saved chasing documents and the additional time gained for questions that truly require professional judgment. Clark founder and CEO Enes Witwit explained, “For as long as accounts have existed, someone has checked them. Today’s checks happen after the fact and far from the moment decisions are made.” He envisions Clerks as perpetual auditors that chase what’s missing and maintain momentum across an engagement, effectively laying groundwork for fully autonomous audit employees and an economy that verifies claims in real time to catch fraud and waste while funds are still in play. Touring Capital co-founder and general partner Priya Saiprasad noted that assurance is a trust-based sector, and AI represents an opportunity to extend the reach of CPA firms without compromising reliability. “Clerks don’t wait to be asked; they advance engagements and coordinate with clients as new information arrives.” The team envisions a new operating model for assurance built on continuous verification.

Clark also stands behind its AI’s work with a 100% accuracy guarantee and a peer-review guarantee. Witwit emphasized that if AI performs the work, the company that built it should stand behind its results. The fresh capital will fund senior hires in product, engineering, and sales, expand Clerks to more firms and engagement types, extend audit services into government programs, and push toward continuous monitoring that keeps findings current between audits. The ultimate aim is to tell clients, regulators, and the public not only what was true at year-end but what remains true today.
