Datawizz Secures $12.5M Seed Funding to Disrupt LLM Paradigm with Specialized Language Models

Datawizz, a San Francisco-based company founded by serial entrepreneur Iddo Gino, has raised $12.5 million in a seed funding round led by Human Capital, with participation from BGV, 91VC, and others. The company is revolutionizing the broken Large Language Model (LLM) paradigm with its Specialized Language Models (SLMs), which offer over 85% cost savings and faster, more accurate AI. Datawizz aims to address the unsustainable costs and inconsistent results associated with large general-purpose LLMs. Iddo Gino, the CEO of Datawizz and the mind behind RapidAPI, highlighted that companies spent $8.4 billion on API calls to LLMs in the first half of 2025, emphasizing the urgent need for a more sustainable solution.
Datawizz's platform automatically profiles AI requests, trains specialized expert models, and routes requests to them, ensuring that every query is directed to the best-suited specialized model. By 2030, the company anticipates that around 70% of AI traffic will be served by sub-5B parameter Specialized Models, with over 50% managed through its platform. Datawizz's approach is set to transform the AI landscape by providing efficient, economical, and reliable AI, allowing companies to own and control the models they use.
The new funding will facilitate product development, team expansion, and market entry across the U.S. and Europe. The company's vision is to build the infrastructure for a sustainable AI future, offering an essential solution that will become a core component of the AI stack.
