Muon Space Secures Oversubscribed Funding, Acquires Starlight Engines, and Opens Advanced Manufacturing Facility

California-based space systems company Muon Space has successfully closed the oversubscribed $89.5 million Series B1 round, bringing its total Series B funding to $146 million. This new capital will support the company's significant scale-up efforts, including the acquisition of Starlight Engines, a propulsion startup specializing in solid propellant Hall-effect thruster systems. The acquisition of Starlight Engines aims to integrate their groundbreaking zinc-fueled thruster systems into Muon's technology stack, enhancing propulsion capabilities and supply chain efficiencies. A

dditionally, Muon has established a new 130,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility in San Jose, California, to facilitate the high-throughput production of satellites, supporting spacecraft ranging from 100kg to 500kg+. The company's expansion and technological advancements are driven by the growing demand for its mission-optimized satellite constellation systems, with a focus on delivering high-performance constellations at a rapid pace. Notably, Muon achieved significant contract signings in 2024, surpassing $100 million, and has seen a 50% increase in its workforce since December.

The funding round was led by Congruent Ventures and included participation from existing investors such as Activate Capital, Acme Capital, Costanoa Ventures, and Radical Ventures, alongside new investor ArcTern Ventures.
