Nerdio Raises $500 Million in Series C Funding Round

Nerdio, a platform simplifying the deployment and management of Microsoft cloud technologies, has secured $500 million in a Series C funding round. The Chicago-based startup, which saw its valuation quadruple since its Series B round two years ago, refrains from disclosing specific valuation, only confirming it to be north of $1 billion.
Nerdio emerged from an 'IT-as-a-service' company called Adar in 2020, with Adar falling under private equity ownership and Nerdio establishing itself as a dedicated cloud management service provider for clients like PayPal, Sony, and Comcast. Nerdio caters to firms seeking to optimize their cloud infrastructure deployments and costs, offering Nerdio Manager for Enterprise to assist in managing Microsoft's Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows applications across their workforce.
The company automates various tasks related to cloud infrastructure and virtual desktop management, such as user-provisioning and application deployment, in addition to providing cost-optimization features like auto-scaling resources to match demand. Nerdio's modern cloud-native approach contrasts with traditional legacy players like Citrix, particularly relevant as remote and hybrid working environments gain traction.
The funding, led by U.S. growth equity firm General Atlantic, alongside Lead Edge Capital and Stepstone, will support Nerdio's plans to enhance its product lineup across key Microsoft services and expand its global presence, customer support, and engineering teams.
