Neuralink Secures $650 Million in Latest Funding Round

Neuralink, the brain computer interface startup founded by Elon Musk, has successfully closed a $650 million Series E funding round, as reported in a blog post on Monday. Notable investors in this round include ARK Invest, Founders Fund, Sequoia Capital, and Thrive Capital. This latest funding follows Neuralink's previous $280 million Series D round in 2023, with an additional $43 million added later.
The company has made significant progress in its brain chip technology, conducting more human clinical trials and implanting the chips in five individuals with severe paralysis. Additionally, in May, Neuralink received a breakthrough device designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, expediting the development and review processes for its experimental technologies.
According to Semafor, this funding round values Neuralink at around $9 billion pre-money, signaling a strong market sentiment towards the company's innovative endeavors.
