Norm Ai, a company that brings together senior attorneys and AI engineers to build agentic law, has raised a $120 million Series C funding round at a $1.2 billion valuation. The round was led by Khosla Ventures, the first institutional investor in OpenAI, and saw participation from Blackstone, Bain Capital Ventures (BCV), Craft Ventures, Coatue, Vanguard, New York Life, TIAA, Tony James, Jeff Hammes, and Fenwick LLP. Norm Ai has raised over $260 million since its inception, less than three years ago.

The company creates agentic law for high-stakes work by combining AI engineers and attorneys to embed law into AI agents. Norm Law, LLP, an affiliated AI-native law firm running on the Norm Ai platform, utilizes these AI agents to provide outside counsel to clients, with senior attorneys overseeing, calibrating, and enhancing the agents. Operating on Norm Ai's agentic law technology and pricing based on outcomes rather than hours, Norm Law ensures that the benefits of AI directly benefit the client, unlike traditional law firms.

Norm Law is chaired by Mike Schmidtberger and includes partners from notable law firms. Norm Ai's clients, representing over $30 trillion in assets under management, deploy legal AI agents for in-house legal teams. Norm Ai's technology is also used to supervise other AI agents in regulated environments, ensuring appropriate performance. John Nay, founder and CEO of Norm Ai, emphasized the importance of aligning legal services with clients and AI with human values in an increasingly agentic society. Samir Kaul, Managing Director at Khosla Ventures, expressed trust in Norm Ai, stating that it provides the only credible path to AI-native legal work at an institutional scale.

The Series C funding will support hiring, expansion of practice areas, and advancement of Norm Ai's supervisory agents for regulated enterprise AI deployments. Norm Ai has raised over $260 million from prominent investors and aims to govern AI operations in regulated environments and power Norm Law, the first AI-native law firm for institutional clients.
