Professional Women's Basketball League Unrivaled Closes $28 Million Series A Round Led by the Berman Family

Unrivaled, a professional women's basketball league, has successfully closed its oversubscribed Series A investment round, securing $28 million in funding led by the Berman Family. Notable investors in this round include 8-time NBA All-Star and NBA Champion Giannis Antetokounmpo, Co-Owner/CEO of Boston Globe Media Linda Henry, Avenue Sports Fund, Marc Lasry, 23-Time Gold Medalist Michael Phelps, President of Michael Phelps Foundation Nicole Phelps, 3-time NCAA Champion Head Coach Dawn Staley, Warner Bros. Discovery, and JuJu Watkins, among others.
The league had previously announced an oversubscribed seed round, with a star-studded group of investors, including Alex Morgan, Dan Benton, Carmelo Anthony, Geno Auriemma, and others. Unrivaled, player-owned, provides participating players with equity opportunities for a vested interest in the league's success. The league is set to launch in January 2025, featuring the current top women's basketball stars in the world across six teams for a 3-on-3, compressed full-court style of play.
