Tenkara Secures $7 Million in Funding to Revolutionize US Manufacturing Ops Agents

Tenkara, a company specializing in building ops agents for US manufacturers, has announced a successful $7 million funding round led by True Ventures, with participation from multiple other investors such as HF0, WndrCo, Articulate Capital, Night Capital, SF1, Transpose, and early employees at Flexport. The US manufacturing industry consists of around 600,000 firms, with 98% being small businesses. Procurement challenges plague these companies, as they struggle to efficiently source materials, track costs, manage logistics, and stay compliant due to limited resources. As a result, material costs are inflated, project timelines are frequently delayed, and compliance gaps incur significant financial losses.
Tenkara aims to address these issues by providing next-generation tooling for supply chains through its agents that alleviate back-office burdens, allowing lean teams to function at a larger scale. The company has already secured multi-million dollar contracts with US manufacturers within its first 18 months. Tenkara's founder and CEO, Benjamin Stern, brings extensive experience as a manufacturing owner and operator, having previously built factories from the ground up and managed production for various consumer brands. With a mission to fix the existing systemic flaws within manufacturing, Stern is supported by a founding team comprising Evan Adkins and Jonah Stillman, both seasoned entrepreneurs.
True Ventures' Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Phil Black, commends Tenkara's deep customer understanding, acquired through Stern's decade-long involvement in vertically integrated manufacturing plants. True Ventures believes Tenkara's solutions are pivotal for shaping the next generation of American factories. Tenkara, established in 2024, focuses on developing mission-critical infrastructure for US manufacturers, automating operational processes vital for factory operations, including supplier discovery, procurement, compliance, and freight. True Ventures, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm managing $4 billion in committed capital, emphasizes its commitment to nurturing early-stage startups.
Notable investments by True Ventures include Veza, Enveda, Iceye, Handshake, Peloton, Duo Security, and HashiCorp. The company has expressed confidence in Tenkara's potential to drive significant change in the domestic manufacturing landscape. Tenkara's unique approach to addressing the challenges faced by US manufacturers, coupled with the support of prominent investors, positions the company as a key player in transforming the operational dynamics of the manufacturing sector.
