American Express to Acquire Tock from Squarespace for $400 Million

American Express announced it has reached an agreement with Squarespace, the design-driven platform aiding entrepreneurs in establishing online brands and businesses, to buy Tock, a technology provider for reservations, table management, and event organization, for $400 million.
According to Matthew Tucker, Head of Tock, the acquisition is expected to enhance the value provided to customers through access to a broad network of diners. The deal also includes a partnership between Squarespace and American Express to offer additional value for small businesses using American Express Cards through the Amex Offers program and Card Member benefits.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approval. Squarespace is a design-driven platform helping entrepreneurs build brands and businesses online, while Tock offers hospitality businesses an all-in-one solution for reservation, waitlist, and table management.
The Company also announced an agreement to acquire Rooam, a technology company that powers mobile payments, ordering and integrations with point of sale, marketing and loyalty systems used by restaurants and entertainment venues. The company’s integrations will add new capabilities to the Resy dashboard that help restaurants personalize marketing, drive loyalty, and turn tables faster. Adding Rooam’s proprietary products – Rooam Pay, Rooam Tab, and Rooam Order – will enhance Amex’s mobile ordering and payment capabilities as American Express continues to deepen its sports, music, and entertainment partnerships.
