Bloomberg has officially announced its plans to acquire Canoe Intelligence, a prominent AI-powered data management and intelligence platform tailored for automating private markets data collection and delivery. The acquisition is set to enhance Bloomberg's capabilities in providing end-to-end intelligence across both public and private markets using AI-driven insights for investors.

Bloomberg aims to use Canoe's technology to transform how institutional investors engage with private markets, by delivering unified data, analytics, and tools. The acquisition is anticipated to enable Bloomberg to integrate Canoe's private markets capabilities with its existing solutions to deliver innovative tools and new insights across the full investment lifecycle for both private and public markets. Canoe's role as the connective tissue between general partners (GPs) and limited partners (LPs) is expected to streamline post-investment reporting at scale, speed, and consistency, catering to sophisticated investors.

Bloomberg's CEO, Vlad Kliatchko, expressed that the acquisition positions Bloomberg to deliver an experience that will define the next era of investing. Canoe's CEO, Jason Eiswerth, highlighted the potential for Canoe to leverage Bloomberg's resources, reach, and data to provide investors with clarity and confidence in analyzing their complete portfolios. Canoe was incubated by principals of 10East and 22C Capital, and its institutional investors included Blackstone Innovations Investments, Carlyle AlpInvest, Eight Roads, F-Prime, Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Hamilton Lane, and Nasdaq Ventures. Jefferies LLC acted as exclusive financial advisor to Canoe, while Cooley LLP served as its legal advisor.

Bloomberg and Canoe Intelligence aim to redefine alternative investment intelligence by combining their expertise and technologies to provide institutions, LPs, and wealth managers with a scalable foundation for long-term growth and compliance. The combination of Bloomberg's leading public markets intelligence and Canoe's AI-driven data management platform is anticipated to unlock near- and long-term capabilities that span the full investment lifecycle, bridging the gap between public and private markets.
