Collibra, a data governance platform based in Brussels, has acquired Raito, a data access startup also located in Brussels. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it's known that Raito had previously raised $4 million in venture funding. Collibra's CEO, Felix Van de Maele, highlighted the increasing challenge of managing data access at scale for enterprises, particularly with the growing demand for AI and workflow automation.

The acquisition of Raito will allow Collibra to enhance and automate its data access control offering. Van de Maele emphasized that Raito's cloud-native approach and alignment with the current AI focus made it the right choice for acquisition. The founders of Raito being former Collibra employees was an additional benefit. This move reflects a trend in the industry, with companies like Salesforce, Alation, and ServiceNow also making similar acquisitions to address the data governance challenges posed by AI innovation.

Collibra, established in 2008, has become a key player in the data governance sector and has raised significant funding from renowned venture capital firms. The acquisition of Raito strengthens Collibra's position as a unified governance platform for data and AI, addressing the fragmentation of governance in the market.
