CrowdStrike Acquires Identity Management Startup SGNL for $740 Million

Cybersecurity provider CrowdStrike has announced its acquisition of identity management startup SGNL in a deal valued at nearly $740 million. The move comes as companies intensify their defenses against AI cyberattacks. CrowdStrike's CEO, George Kurtz, highlighted the acquisition as a significant opportunity to disrupt the identity market and bolster the company's position in the multibillion-dollar identity security business.
The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year. SGNL, which raised $30 million in an early funding round in February, boasts backers such as Cisco Investments and Microsoft’s Venture Fund. The company’s founders, Scott Kriz and Erik Gustavson, have previously worked at Google. CrowdStrike's acquisition of SGNL follows a trend of cybersecurity providers expanding their capabilities through acquisitions, as businesses increasingly turn to autonomous agent-powered AI solutions for managing cybersecurity tools.
The move marks CrowdStrike's continued focus on buying successful teams and innovative technology to offer consolidated, cost-effective solutions to its customers. In recent years, CrowdStrike had announced plans to acquire AI agentic security platform Pangea and Spanish data startup Onum.
