CVC and Carlyle Announce $1.1 Billion Deal to Sell Jagex, the Maker of RuneScape

Global investment firm Carlyle and CVC, a leading global private markets manager, announced the agreement to sell Jagex, a leading developer and publisher of video games to CVC Capital Partners Fund VIII and Haveli Investments. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed; however Sky News speculated the deal to be valued at $1.1 billion.
Founded in 2000 and headquartered in the United Kingdom, Jagex's popular multiplayer online role playing game, RuneScape, has garnered a community of 2.4 million active subscribers and one million free-to-play users, boasting over 300 million lifetime accounts.
