French-Canadian entrepreneur Stephan Tetrault has successfully acquired Electronics Boutique Canada Inc., also known as "GameStop Canada," from GameStop Global Holdings S.A.R.L. Tetrault, a prominent figure in the collectibles and entertainment industry, plans to relaunch the Canadian retailer as EB Games Canada, a nostalgic and iconic name for Canadian gamers. The acquisition aims to breathe new life into Canada's gaming retail scene, with a focus on customer experience, collector culture, and the unique preferences of Canadian gamers.
Tetrault, who will serve as the Owner and CEO of the newly rebranded EB Games Canada, expressed his commitment to building a special community-centric and innovative retail environment. The rebranding will see EB Games Canada embracing both classic elements and modern retail experiences, including enhanced in-store events, expanded product lines, deeper integration with pop culture brands, and a renewed dedication to Canadian gamers.The nationwide transition to EB Games Canada will include updated store signage, a redesigned website, and new branding across digital and social platforms to elevate the customer experience.
Additionally, Tetrault received M&A and financial advisory support from HNA as part of the acquisition. GameStop Canada, with over 185 stores across the country, specializes in video games and pop culture-related toys and collectibles, prioritizing a unique product and service experience for its customers.
