Fresh Express Acquires McEntire Produce to Expand Foodservice Division

Fresh Express Inc., a prominent brand in value-added salads and fresh produce, has completed the acquisition of McEntire Produce Inc., a long-standing fresh-cut processor, repacker, and wholesaler catering to the foodservice industry since 1938. The acquisition, announced by Fresh Express President John P. Olivo and McEntire Produce President and CEO Carter McEntire, aims to merge McEntire Produce's strong foodservice capabilities with Fresh Express's national retail supply footprint, presenting growth opportunities in the foodservice sector.

This move will establish a new Foodservice Division of Fresh Express operating under the McEntire Produce name, expanding its reach and offering a national foodservice solution while utilizing Fresh Express's expertise in growing, harvesting, manufacturing, and distribution. McEntire Produce will benefit from Fresh Express's national platform, accessing six plants across all regions, an extensive grower network, and advanced supply chain capabilities. Both companies are committed to enhancing customer relationships and reducing food miles and carbon emissions, aiming to lower route-to-market costs for McEntire Produce products and seek growth opportunities.

 The acquisition aims to enhance offerings and services to foodservice customers and consumers through increased investments in innovation, efficiencies, and food safety. Combining McEntire Produce's Simply Clean® wash system with Fresh Express's RFID-based food traceability technology will further strengthen their food safety programs.
