Wonder, the parent company of Grubhub, has successfully acquired Claim, a restaurant rewards app established in 2021. Claim offers cash-back rewards for local restaurants, allowing users to redeem them for dine-in or pickup orders. The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, but Claim had raised a total of $20 million, including a $12 million Series A funding round in October 2024, with an estimated valuation of $62 million.

Grubhub anticipates that the acquisition will provide restaurants on its platform with access to Claim’s customer acquisition and retention tools, while also offering additional savings and rewards for dining out to Grubhub diners. Claim's CEO and co-founder, Sam Obletz, expressed excitement about the opportunity, stating that joining Grubhub would mark an exciting new chapter as they scale to reach millions more diners and thousands of restaurants. Grubhub confirmed that all members of the Claim team were offered positions within the company. Under Grubhub, Claim aims to assist more restaurants in connecting with consumers through personalized rewards, thereby reducing customer acquisition costs and driving repeat visits.

The combined efforts of Grubhub and Claim will aim to scale Claim’s data-driven tools to over 415,000 merchants and nearly 20 million diners. Claim is currently available to Grubhub merchants and diners in New York City, with plans for a nationwide rollout later this year. Grubhub assured that Claim will continue to be available to its current merchants and consumers through the Claim app and website for the time being.

In the future, the companies plan to create a streamlined experience across the Grubhub and Claim apps for restaurant partners and diners. Claim's investors included VMG Technology, Sequoia Capital, Susa Ventures, Lightbank, and Metalab Ventures.
