IBM Expands Data Transformation Services Portfolio with Acquisition of Hakkoda Inc.

IBM has acquired Hakkoda Inc., a global data and AI consultancy, to enhance its data transformation services. Hakkoda's expertise in migrating, modernizing, and monetizing data estates, as well as its generative AI-powered assets, will strengthen IBM's ability to meet the rising demand for data services.

The acquisition also brings Hakkoda's industry solutions and expertise in financial services, public sector, and healthcare and life sciences. This move aligns with the increasing global spending for enterprise intelligence services initiatives, which is expected to grow to over $243 billion by 2028.

Furthermore, Hakkoda, as an Elite Snowflake partner, adds significant value with its certifications and accolades, making it an advanced-tier partner of AWS. The acquisition, which closed on April 2, 2025, further establishes Hakkoda's presence across the United States, Latin America, India, Europe, and the United Kingdom within IBM Consulting. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
