Instacart Acquires Colombian Grocery Tech Firm Instaleap to Expand Internationally

Instacart has made a significant move by acquiring Instaleap, a Colombia-based grocery tech firm. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 2019, Instaleap operates as a global fulfillment solutions platform, offering services to retailers in nearly 30 countries across Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East. On the other hand, Instacart, primarily recognized for its grocery delivery services, has been venturing into retail technology and fulfillment solutions. Its commerce platform, Storefront Pro, supports the e-commerce operations of over 380 grocers, including major names such as Aldi, Costco, Publix, and Sprouts.
The acquisition of Instaleap not only enables Instacart to extend its reach into international markets without the need to establish a delivery network but also positions Instaleap as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Instacart. Instacart also plans to leverage its enterprise technology to benefit Instaleap's partners in the future.
According to Ryan Hamburger, Chief Commercial Officer at Instacart, the acquisition presents a significant opportunity for the company to expand internationally through an enterprise-led strategy, while Antonio dos Santos Nunes, Instaleap's co-founder and CEO, highlighted the potential to scale their impact with Instacart’s support.
