Kong Inc. Acquires OpenMeter to Enable Usage-based Billing for API and AI Services

Kong Inc., a leading cloud API and AI technology developer, has acquired OpenMeter, an open-source and SaaS platform for usage-based metering and billing. The acquisition aims to integrate OpenMeter's capabilities into Kong Konnect, the unified API platform. This move will allow organizations to monetize their APIs, AI, and data streams, transforming digital assets into new revenue sources. The combination of API infrastructure and monetization in a unified platform addresses the growing need for scalable metering and billing in the AI era.
