Metropolis Acquires Oosto in $125 Million All-Stock Deal
Metropolis, an AI-powered parking platform, has acquired Oosto, formerly known as AnyVision, in a $125 million all-stock deal. The acquisition includes Oosto’s IP and team, and Oosto CEO Avi Golan and CTO Dieter Joecker will take senior roles at Metropolis. The deal is valued at one-third of the $380 million that Oosto had raised from investors. Oosto investors will receive Series D preferred stock as part of the transaction.
Metropolis is currently in the process of fundraising at a valuation approaching $5 billion. Oosto, which used to be known as AnyVision, had a turbulent history surrounding controversial surveillance applications, leading to loss of key strategic investors. The company then rebranded to Oosto and looked to pivot to more enterprise applications but continued to face challenges, including rounds of layoffs and parting ways with a university. Despite making around $20 million in annual revenues, Oosto struggled amid geopolitical shifts and a new wave of AI companies.
Metropolis, known for its focus on computer vision for parking environments, aims to enhance its capabilities with Oosto's technology. The acquisition is seen as a strategic move to leverage cutting-edge technology to create safer, smarter, and more efficient environments through artificial intelligence and data analytics.
