OneOncology Acquires GenesisCare USA of Florida and Relaunches as SunState Medical Specialists

OneOncology, a national platform empowering independent medical specialty practices, has completed its acquisition of GenesisCare USA  and will rebrand the practice as SunState Medical Specialists (SMS). The acquisition includes over 100 physicians in various specialties, such as urology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, and surgery, operating across 104 clinics in Florida. The partnership aims to expand access to comprehensive specialty healthcare services, offering advanced radiation therapies, in-house pharmacy and laboratory capabilities, interventional radiology, care management planning, theranostics, and diagnostic imaging. 

OneOncology also plans to invest in analytics, clinical research opportunities, and innovative therapies to ensure patients receive cutting-edge specialty care. The CEO of OneOncology, Jeff Patton, M.D., expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the platform's ability to support independent physicians and provide high-quality specialty care at lower costs than hospitals. The move aligns with research indicating that independent practices offer specialty medical care at a fraction of the cost compared to hospitals, making it a significant opportunity to improve patient access to quality, cost-effective care.

SunState Medical Specialists' physicians will cater to patients across major regions in Florida. Additionally, this acquisition complements OneOncology's previous acquisition of United Urology Group in October 2024, showcasing the company's commitment to supporting various specialists alongside oncologists. OneOncology, established by community physicians, aims to improve patient lives and access to care while keeping medical practices independent and cost-effective. The company supports partner practices through group purchasing, operational optimization, practice growth, and clinical innovation. With approximately 1,800 providers caring for around 1 million patients across 565 sites nationwide, United Urology Group focuses on delivering high-quality, integrated, and cost-effective urologic care.

The organization's member groups include Arizona Urology Specialists, Chesapeake Urology, Colorado Urology, and Tennessee Urology. The acquisition of GenesisCare USA of Florida and the rebranding as SunState Medical Specialists underscores OneOncology's ongoing commitment to enhancing community-based specialty care.
