Platform Science Acquires Trimble's Global Transportation Telematics Business Units to Enhance Virtual Vehicle Expansion

Platform Science has successfully acquired Trimble's global transportation telematics business units, as announced during the Trimble Insight Tech Conference in Las Vegas in September 2024. Trimble will become a shareholder in Platform Science's expanded business and have a seat on its board of directors, joining other strategic investors such as C.R. England, Cummins, Daimler Truck, PACCAR, Prologis, RyderVentures, and Schneider.

This acquisition aims to accelerate the future of transportation technology through the global expansion of Virtual Vehicle, Platform Science's open, connected vehicle application platform. Virtual Vehicle will offer fleets access to various telematics, driver, and fleet management software from Platform Science, Trimble, and partners, without the need to change hardware. The transaction is expected to strengthen and accelerate Trimble's Connect and Scale strategy, with a continued focus on growth areas such as Enterprise, Maps, Vusion, and Transporeon business units.
