Raintree Acquires Spike Technologies to Integrate Agentic AI Voice Technology for Healthcare

Raintree, a leading electronic health record (EHR) and practice management platform for rehabilitation and physical therapy organizations, has acquired Spike Technologies, a developer of genuinely agentic AI voice technology for healthcare. The acquisition aims to automate tedious, manually intensive work in revenue cycle and patient engagement, such as payer calls, claim follow-ups, eligibility and prior-authorization, and patient outreach. This move represents a significant step toward fully autonomous revenue cycle management (RCM). The acquisition integrates AI voice directly into Raintree's platform, enabling it to address the labor-intensive nature of revenue cycle work in healthcare. By leveraging AI and automation, the initiative is projected to generate potential annual savings of up to $360 billion in the revenue cycle.

Raintree's CEO, Nick Hedges, emphasized the impact of this acquisition on operational efficiency, with estimated RCM expenses reduced to 1%. The technology differentiates itself from traditional AI solutions by offering genuinely agentic voice agents that understand context, make decisions, and complete multi-step work. This innovative approach is built directly into Raintree's EMR, ensuring full clinical, scheduling, and financial context.

The acquisition is designed to be seamless for Raintree's customers, with the AI voice capability being integrated into the existing EMR system. The goal is to streamline manual tasks, reduce touches per claim, and accelerate cash flow, ultimately allowing clinicians and staff to prioritize patient care. The combined team will further develop capabilities across revenue cycle and patient engagement, working towards fully integrated agentic orchestration. The transaction details were not disclosed.

The acquisition's roadmap and availability will be elaborated at the upcoming TherapyCon in August 2026. The event will feature a keynote presentation titled "The Dawn of the Autonomous EMR," providing insights into the real-world impact of AI-enabled operations on rehab physical therapy efficiency and administrative burden.
