Rubrik Announces Acquisition of Predibase to Strengthen Enterprise AI Agent Capabilities

Rubrik, a data cybersecurity company, has revealed its plans to acquire Predibase, a venture-backed startup specializing in customizing open source AI models for companies. The terms of the deal, which falls within the range of $100 million to $500 million, were not disclosed.

Founded in 2021, Predibase has raised over $28 million in VC funding from investors such as Felicis, Greylock, and Sancus Ventures. The integration of Predibase will enable Rubrik users to expedite the development of AI agents through platforms like Amazon Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, and Google Agentspace. Rubrik's CEO Bipul Sinha expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting the potential of combining Predibase's capabilities with Rubrik's secure data platforms.

This move aligns with a trend of companies making acquisitions to enhance their technology stack for AI agent creation, as seen with recent deals by Salesforce, Snowflake, and Collibra. Rubrik, which went public in April 2024, has raised over $1.6 billion in venture capital from notable firms such as Khosla Ventures, IVP, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
