Shopify Acquires Threads.com, Joining Forces with the Seqiuoa-Backed Slack Alternative

E-commerce company Shopify has successfully acquired Threads.com, a Slack alternative backed by Sequoia. Though the specific financial details remain undisclosed, it has been confirmed that the Threads.com team will now become a part of Shopify.

Threads.com had initially debuted its product in 2019 after securing $10.5 million in funding. However, it gained increased attention when Meta unveiled its own product named Threads. At that time, the company had numerous opportunities  to sell their domains.  They ultimately chose Shopify based on their culture, specifically their obsession with not just building the right thing but also building it the right way, and their they were built by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs.
