Siemens Acquires Defacto Technologies

Siemens has announced its acquisition of Defacto Technologies, a privately held EDA software company focusing on automated SoC design creation and integration. The acquisition expands Siemens' EDA portfolio, providing capabilities to manage growing SoC complexity through automated design creation, earlier implementation assessment, and integrated verification. This move complements Siemens' existing EDA solutions by extending continuity across the SoC design lifecycle.
Defacto Technologies' technology aims to automate SoC assembly, design restructuring, and power intent management earlier in the RTL design phase. The acquisition is seen as a strategic step for both organizations, aiming to simplify complex workflows, improve productivity, and accelerate innovation across the semiconductor and electronics landscape.
Founded in 2003 and based in Grenoble, France, Defacto Technologies develops software for automated SoC design creation, with a focus on register-transfer level design. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. For more information about Siemens' EDA portfolio and its approach to semiconductor design innovation, visit the Siemens website.
