Sony Acquires STATSports Group for Athlete Tracking Technologies

Sony Corporation has acquired STATSports Group, a leader in athlete monitoring solutions and performance analysis. STATSports, founded in 2008, provides tracking technologies for over 800 sports clubs and national teams, offering wearable devices with GPS, heart rate, and accelerometer sensors. This acquisition enables Sony to integrate STATSports' tracking technologies with Hawk-Eye Innovations and KinaTrax, enhancing its sports data solutions.

Rufus Hack, CEO of Sony's sports businesses, expressed that the acquisition will build the ultimate sports data and analytics engine. Alan Clarke, CEO of STATSports, emphasized that the partnership will set new standards in performance analysis, athlete development, and injury prevention. STATSports is known for empowering professional teams and federations worldwide, including global brands such as Manchester City, Liverpool FC, and Arsenal.

Sony aims to leverage this acquisition to expand its sports technology solutions and enter new markets, creating opportunities for comprehensive optical and wearable tracking solutions across major sports.
