AegisAI, a startup founded by former Google security executives Cy Khormaee and Ryan Luo, is using AI agents to combat AI-powered attacks on email systems. These attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated, with hackers leveraging AI to create convincing spear phishing emails.

The startup's AI agents can quickly analyze each message, identifying small anomalies that traditional rule-based systems might miss. AegisAI has attracted dozens of customers and recently secured a $36 million Series A funding round led by Battery Ventures, bringing its total capital to $49 million.

The company's technology has already been adopted by companies such as Mesh, LangChain, and Lokker. AegisAI's aim is to replace legacy email security tools with AI-driven defense, with plans to expand into other areas of defense, such as data security.
