Amazon announced today it is investing an additional $2.75 billion in Anthropic, on top of the originally committed $1.25 billion bringing its investment total to $4 billion. This is the largest venture investment by Amazon to date.

The investment was made to further the collaboration between the two companies, allowing organizations to deploy advanced generative artificial intelligence applications. Anthropic's release of its powerful new Claude 3 family of large language models (LLMs) has propelled it to the forefront of the AI raceI.

Amazon has swiftly incorporated some versions of Claude 3 into its Bedrock service on AWS, catering to its cloud customers. This strategic investment aims to position Amazon as a leading provider of generative AI tools, enhancing customer experiences and driving innovation.
