Former CFTC Chairman to Lead MoonPay's Institutional Digital Assets Business

MoonPay, the leading cryptocurrency payments network, has acquired Sodot, a key management infrastructure company that secured over $50 billion in transactions. The acquisition forms the foundation of MoonPay Institutional, a new business serving financial institutions, asset managers, trading firms, and exchanges entering digital asset markets. Caroline D. Pham, former acting Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), will lead MoonPay Institutional.

The launch addresses the increasing demand for institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure and access to decentralized finance (DeFi) as over two-thirds of institutional investors seek exposure to DeFi yields. MoonPay Institutional offers integrated technology solutions, leveraging Sodot's infrastructure for secure key management. This acquisition brings Sodot's team, technology, and client relationships into MoonPay. The move aims to meet the growing need for regulated firms to deploy stablecoin, tokenized asset, and crypto services to the highest standard.

Caroline D. Pham, with her extensive experience in financial markets and regulation, will lead MoonPay Institutional, providing a unified technology platform supporting any token, chain, or wallet. MoonPay's institutional offerings include wallet infrastructure, custody, crypto API vault, trade execution, cross-chain collateral mobility, OTC and DeFi liquidity, stablecoin and payments solutions.

MoonPay, founded in 2019, has more than 30 million customers across 180 countries and supports over 500 enterprise customers spanning crypto and fintech. Sodot, established in 2023, specializes in self-hosted MPC and TEE products for crypto key management.
