Qodo, a New York-based startup, has secured a $70 million Series B funding round led by Qumra Capital, bringing its total funding to $120 million. The company, founded by Itamar Friedman in 2022, aims to address the emerging need for reliable and secure software as AI coding tools generate billions of lines of code each month. Qodo specializes in AI agents for code review, testing, and governance, focusing on how code changes affect entire systems, organizational standards, historical context, and risk tolerance.

The startup is betting on verification to define the next phase of software development, particularly as enterprises accelerate the adoption of AI-generated code tools like OpenClaw and Claude Code. Qodo's recent achievements include ranking No. 1 on Martian’s Code Review Bench, outperforming competitors and launching Qodo 2.0, a multi-agent code review system leading current benchmarks. The company has already engaged major enterprises such as Nvidia, Walmart, Red Hat, Intuit, and Texas Instruments, as well as high-growth firms like Monday.com and JFrog.

Friedman emphasized the importance of moving from stateless AI to stateful systems, transitioning from intelligence to 'artificial wisdom,' highlighting Qodo's focus on the evolving landscape of AI-generated content. The startup's vision aligns with the growing realization that faster code output does not necessarily equate to reliable or secure software. Qodo's approach stands out in the market, emphasizing the importance of code quality and governance beyond the capabilities of language model models (LLMs) alone, catering to specific organizational contexts and definitions of code quality.
