Rocsys Unveils Groundbreaking Hands-Free Charging Solution for Robotaxis and Secures $13M in Series A Extension

Rocsys has revealed the Rocsys M1, the world's first hands-free charging solution designed to serve multiple bays in robotaxi operations. The M1 is currently in pilot deployment and is set to roll out on a large scale in 2027. To support its expansion, Rocsys has secured a $13M Series A extension led by Capricorn Partners, with participation from other investors such as Scania Invest, Forward. One, SEB Greentech Venture Capital, and Graduate Ventures, bringing the total funding raised to $56M.
The global robotaxi market is expected to reach $45.7B by 2030, leading to rapid fleet expansion and increased depot operations. Rocsys addresses the challenge of manual charging processes by transforming them into an automated system, minimizing downtime and enhancing productivity. The M1's modular, multi-bay design allows a single system to serve multiple vehicles across up to 10 bays, increasing throughput while reducing operational costs. The M1 is equipped with AI-enhanced computer vision and motion intelligence, ensuring precise plug-in performance and safe operation.
Additionally, it is fully interoperable across different electric vehicles, chargers, and connector types. The company plans to showcase the M1 at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas and aims to support autonomous fleet operations with its integrated platform. Crijn Bouman, CEO and Co-Founder of Rocsys, emphasized the importance of hands-free operations for continuous, real-world use at scale, enabling operators to run mixed fleets autonomously. Steven Lambert from Capricorn Partners highlighted the significance of infrastructure in supporting the scaling of robotaxis, while Johannes Fors Källström from Scania Invest praised Rocsys for addressing a key infrastructure bottleneck and demonstrating a strong focus on reliability.
The company's technology, which incorporates soft robotics, AI-driven computer vision, and proactive services, is aimed at unlocking greater efficiency, safety, and scalability for electric and autonomous vehicles. Rocsys is actively involved in shaping industry standards and establishing partnerships with multinational corporations and OEMs. Capricorn Partners, an independent European manager of venture capital funds, led the Series A extension, and Scania Invest, Scania's in-house global venture capital arm, also participated in the funding round.
