Starshot Capital Launches $35M Fund for Decarbonization Goals

Starshot Capital has unveiled the Starshot Fund I, a $35M fund focused on supporting companies striving for ambitious decarbonization goals. The venture capital firm is committed to identifying and nurturing high-impact businesses in underinvested climate sectors.
Starshot seeks to back early-stage companies with the potential to eliminate a cumulative 1 gigaton of carbon emissions by 2050, while delivering returns comparable to the most successful venture-backed startups. The primary areas of focus include the industrial sector, manufacturing, food & agriculture, the built environment, materials, and chemicals.
The firm, co-founded by Brewer and Sam Levac-Levey in 2021, draws on their extensive experience at companies like Google, Facebook, Tesla, and SpaceX. They are joined by Zoe Samuel, a former Google executive, and Dr. Nick Gould, an experienced chemical engineer.
The fund, the first from Starshot, collaborates closely with expert advisors, including successful venture capitalists, business leaders, and climate luminaries. Notable portfolio companies include Mojave, Rumin8, Harvest Thermal, and Ecolectro, all working on innovative climate solutions in various sectors. Read the full press release here.
